Origin of Jergon Sacha

Jergon Sacha is a tropical plant that grows in the undergrowth from a long, thick stalk. Only one, huge, deeply divided leaf appears. When the time comes to form the fruit, the thick stalk reaches a height of 1-2 m and looks like a young tree trunk. The fruit grows in the fleshy stalk in a maroon leaf sheath with very bright red orange, berry-shaped seeds. The flower looks similar to that of the Dieffenbachia, only much larger, because it is up to 2.5 m wide. Up to 13 species are in South and Latin America.

Here we offer Dracontium from Peru

From an ethnobotanical point of view, Jergón Sacha is used in herbal medicine as it looks, because the stalks and stains look like a venomous snake from Peru that lives there just like the plant: Jergón Sacha, a very venomous snake species (Bothrops).
Dr. Roberto Incháustegui Gonzáles, President of the Commission for Sexually Transmitted Diseases of the Peruvian Institute for Social Welfare (ESSALUD) in Iquitos, investigated the effect in HIV with extracts of Jergón Sacha (D. peruvianum) tubers for their antiviral activity.

They also combined Jergon with Cat's Claw (Uncaria tomentosa) to strengthen the immune system.

Proteases are also the main components of snake and spider venom. The potency of the proteases depends on the amount of damaged tissue. Many natural remedies have been used successfully in such cases, especially those that are applied to the bite site, and also act as natural protease inhibitors.
