The papaya (Carica papaya) - tree melon · angel fruit · cress fig - lechosa in Spanish, belongs to the plant family of melon trees.
The indigenous people call the papaya tree "Tree of Health" and the papaya fruit "Fruit for a Long Life".
They know, for example, that hard-to-digest fish or meat dishes are easier to digest when there is papaya for dessert.
Papaya contains a strong enzyme, papain, which helps to digest protein. It is similar to the natural digestive enzyme (pepsin) of the stomach. Flatulence and bad breath can thus be prevented.
Vitamin-Bomb Papaya
