Tiang Men Dong, (Asparagus racemosus)
Shatavari is the most important herb for women in Ayurveda. It reduces Vata and Pitta and increases Kapha.
Shatavari means translated: 'has a hundred men', which indicates the toning and rejuvenating effect on female gender.
The part of the plant used is the tuber, English name: Shatavari, Indian Asparagus
Asparagus racemosus is located in India.
Shatavari is a creeper from the asparagus family with an extensive system of bulbous roots. These have been used in Ayurveda medicine for generations as the most important Ayurvedic rejuvenating agent for women - similar to Ashwagandha in men.
In traditional Indian medicine, Shatavari was and is used especially for women as a gentle analgesic and aphrodisiac. Shatavari is also used successfully as a galactagogue, as a means that stimulates the mammary glands.
This plant is a good nutrient because it provides many female hormones (phytohormones, e.g. isoflavones).
It nourishes the egg cells, increases fertility and promotes love and libido for women.
Traditional expectation of how Shatavari can work in the body:
- rejuvenating for women
- for milk production
- with acidification
- aphrodisiac for women
- strengthening for the female genital organs
Attention! Do not take if you have fibroids, tumors or cysts!
Phytohormones and isoflavones in Shatavari
The plant hormones (phytohomones) contained in the Shatavari stimulate growth during pregnancy and lead to an increase in milk production (lactation) during lactation.
Adaptogens and saponins in Shatavari
Secondary plant substances like the adaptogens in the Shatavari help the organism to deal with stress. The woman adapts better to stress with the help of these substances. The proven adaptogenic effect of Shatavari is attributed to the content of saponins, also called Shatavarine.
