Many of these species are beeing used for treatment in folk medicine.
Over 100 species of Baccharis were researched to reveal that they contain many classes of secondary metabolytes, e.g. terpenoids, diterpenoids, sesquiterpenes, triterpenes, essential oils, flavonoids, coumarines and other phenol subgroups.
During the intensive study of the chemical components, much attention was given to its bioactive components.
